Installing a datapack
There are multiple ways of installing a Datapack if you're playing modded Minecraft but in this guide we will focus on the purely Vanilla method of adding a Datapack to your world.
Using the datapack folder
Every world folder has a datapacks
folder in which you can place the datapack you want to install.
The following steps will guide you through installing a datapack into the world
1. Locate the World Folder:
- Minecraft Launcher:
- Open the Minecraft Launcher.
- Navigate to the Installations tab.
- Hover over the desired installation and click the folder icon.
- Access the
saves
folder and open the corresponding world folder.
- In-Game:
- Go to Resource Packs.
- Press the Open Pack Folder button.
- Navigate back to the
saves
folder and open the desired world folder.
2. Copy Datapack:
- Open the
datapacks
folder within the world folder. - Copy the datapack into this folder.
Additional Methods (Windows)
NOTE
This is assuming you're using the Minecraft Launcher and have not changed the Game Directory
Using Run Command:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Enter
%appdata%\.minecraft
and click OK. - Access the
saves
folder and open the corresponding world folder.
Using File Explorer:
- Open any folder (File Explorer).
- Enter
%appdata%\.minecraft
in the address bar and press Enter. - Open the
saves
folder and open the corresponding world folder.
Additional Method (MacOS)
NOTE
This is assuming you're using the Minecraft Launcher and have not changed the Game Directory
- Using Spotlight:
- Copy
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft
into Spotlight search. - Press Enter to access the Minecraft directory.
- Open the
saves
folder and open the corresponding world folder.
